Can You Find Bibles For Teens? Yes You Can!

One of the things all Christian parents fear is that the Bible may be one of the casualties of their children's teen years. Don't laugh, now - this is an all too real concern!

What can we do as parents to encourage our teens to continue reading the Bible, and to continue studying and growing in the Lord?

Well, one of the most effective things I have found is to not only make the Bible readily available, but to take the stealth approach. This is less sneaky than it may seem, but I have found that taking the direct, frontal assault approach is counter-productive when it comes to teens and the Lord. We have always made Christian music readily available in our home. This gets our kids interested in spite of themselves, as the music is geared to their age level and interests, more than to ours.

And so, as the kids fall in love with the music and the Lord, they also want to learn more about Him, and what better way than Bibles for teens? There are a number of really good Bibles that have studies written by Bible scholars and geared to the level of teen interests, with such relevant topics as how to dress, what you should do when a boy (or girl!) wants to go farther on a date than you are comfortable with, and much more.

Another approach is to make the Bible readily available to your teen on their handheld devices, such as a PDA or iPhone. There are a good many different software packages that enable you to download the entire Bible to a Palm Pilot or similar device, and this is something than can be accessed at any time, anywhere, which appeals to the teens very much.

Our church has teen Bible quizzing as a way of hooking Bibles for teens, thus making the Bible relevant. Teens love competition, and gathering with their peers to have fun at any time is another appealing way to keep them interested in the Bible.

And last, but certainly not least, is the whole Christian concert scene. My husband takes our teens to these concerts as often as possible as it is a perfect means of keeping our kids interested in the Bible and their relationship to God. The witness that Christian bands give of their love for the Lord is worth more than gold! So you see, there are a number of ways to keep your teen interested and involved in seeking after God.
